    About James G. Littlepage:

James G. Littlepage is known as the Fire Poet.  He has fought both wild land and structure fires for twenty-seven years.  He retired from a city fire department in 2001 and now works nationally on an on-call basis for the U.S. Forest Service fighting wild land fires and disasters.  He is a Southern born gentleman and the product of loving parents and a family of twelve children.  Jim’s poems strike close to the readers’ heart.  His poetry conveys an unprecedented appreciation of the essence of life.  He lifts the reader up and down his mountains and reveals love’s message.  Jim shares his sensitive nature and deep feelings in a progressive life from schoolboy, to young man in love, to Viet Nam soldier, and to professional firefighter.  He is a tender, emotional man to his beloved and a mountain man to his friends.  He is committed to God and a lover of nature, animals, children, and adventure.  He spends his spare time in the Bitterroot Mountains in western Montana and eastern Idaho.

Jim's latest book, Of Fire, Wind & Spirit is a collection of poems intended to create special moments for the reader.  The poems of fires and firefighting are gripping and may cause a tear, his poems of romantic love are fresh and unfeigned, and his poems of heritage are humble and unpretentious such that even nonlovers of poetry can understand the message and appreciate their significance.  Jim’s poems present an exaltation to God as well as a Christian message.  The section titled “Along the Path” tracks the author from a ten-year-old boy to the present, forty years later, and essentially presents a biography in verse capturing the emotional depths of life’s paths.

From cover to cover, the poems in each of the seven sections will allow the reader to experience a heightened emotional awareness, cross the Rocky Mountains, understand the loss of a son, love from the depths of the heart, feel the hot heat of fire, shout praises to God, lounge in daydreams, and simply watch the pendulum swing.

Though life takes us down many roads, it is the author’s belief that the choices we make determine our destination, and following this belief, it is his expressed hope and desire that he meet each Of Fire, Wind & Spirit reader someday in heaven.

AWARDS - Jim was recently honored as a Famous Poet and awarded a Shakespearean Trophy of Excellence and a 2003 Poet of the Year Medallion by the Famous Poets Society for his poem “A Psalm” which is included in Of Fire, Wind & Spirit.
